Background

Since opening their doors to both men and women on an equal basis in 1921, Oaklands College has always offered a responsive, transformational education. With a desire to elevate the College’s presence and align with their future aspirations, my role was to reimagine the College, its Sporting Academies, and departmental units.

The Challenge

Oaklands needed a cohesive brand system that unified its diverse entities under a single, strategic identity. The challenge was to create a flexible yet consistent brand architecture that aligned with the College’s mission and values.

Strategic Approach

We introduced an overarching "Oaklands" brand to unify the group while allowing individual units to retain distinct identities. This structured hierarchy strengthened recognition and communication, ensuring adaptability across the College and its academies.

Design Solution

The identity balances unity and individuality, with each entity maintaining its own character while remaining clearly part of the Oaklands family. Wolves Sporting Academies received additional customisation, reinforcing their elite status while preserving brand cohesion.

Outcomes & Impact

  • Stronger Identity & Recognition – A cohesive, future-proofed brand enhancing Oaklands’ reputation in education and sports

  • Enhanced Team Spirit – Increased pride and emotional connection among students, faculty, and athletes

  • Elevated Perception & Commercial Appeal – The rebranded Wolves Academy secured partnerships with Nike and Kitking, with branded apparel selling out upon launch
